The project began with a much more reasonable goal: completing my collection of Black Ops game cases. A few searches later, the shelf had turned into a museum — proof that one missing case can cost a great deal of time… and a few hours of sunlight.
This archival work took a considerable amount of time and, according to an exceptionally rigorous calculation, a regrettable amount of daylight. Some pages had vanished; others were buried in forgotten corners of the web. Captures had to be recovered, cross-checked or “restored”, while many details remained incomplete, contradictory or uncertain. The museum brings together what could be recovered, separates evidence from unresolved leads, and remains open to corrections.
Two galleries,
one shared collection.
The museum brings together two documentary collections: a worldwide catalogue of 133 physical editions and a documented history of Black Ops esports on Windows PC. Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii circuits are excluded, even when they use the same organization or tournament names. The main period covered is November 2010 to November 2012.
